The Christian Booksellers Association reports that the International Christian Retail Show attendance was up in 2007. At the close of the International Christian Retail Show last week, professional attendance (total people minus exhibitors and youth) was 2,859, up 4% from last year’s 2,750. International attendance was up as well at 757, with International attendees from 59 countries, compared to last year’s International attendance of 734 from 52 countries. Church-store attendance saw the greatest increase of 16%, with 528 people representing church stores compared to 441 in 2006. Total attendance was 9,266 compared to last year’s 9,256. Exhibitor personnel attendance was 6,007, down 2% from last year’s 6,145.
“Given the cost of gasoline and the rising costs of air travel, as well as the reality that so many retailers have to watch every dollar they spend, it was rewarding to see a strong turn-out that exceeded last year’s attendance in a place as appealing as the Rocky Mountains,” CBA President-CEO Bill Anderson said.
Retail representatives came to consider the products and services of 386 exhibitors in 1,129 booth spaces, including 67 first-time exhibitors.
